??? about my 88 22re truck
I had posted a link about my 88 yota... and had great response... the topic was why does my truck have to be advanced to run good? well i have been driving it for awhile with it advance and still running really good... My question is. I hear the truck is suppose to jump ahead 10 degs after you time it and remove the jump wire???? So i was thinking if its suppose to be at 5 deg and then jump 10 deg that would be at like 15 deg.. which is pretty much where i have it... soooooo other then a bad computer what would make my truck not jump ahead? cause im pretty sure my computer is good cause when i put the comp wire it i can read the code from the check engine lite flashing... But i didnt know if there was something else that could be wrong to make it read and all that to make it jump ahead. Also i was looking at my exhust pipe and didnt see a O2 sensor... i was thinking my 88 was suppose to have a 02 sensor right there where it comes out of the manifold? Anyways if anyone solves my mystery that would be awsome..
Thanks in advanced lol no pun intended

its prolly ur TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) if you jumpered it correctly your idle should go down, and you can successfully time your engine, if you have a shot TPS it will not do this, and you can not set base timing, it will also do this if you have a CEL like you said above figure out what the CEL is and fix it b4 you can time your motor

Hey dude, I have an 88 22RE and I couldn't figure out the timing because it does the same way. WAY advanced. I kept messing with it and decided to do what I have always done and just time it by ear and it's perfect...way advanced, but runs perfect. The O2 sensor on mine was behind the cat right about below your feet in that area between the cat and the muffler. Good luck
