Question Help!!!!! me fix my leaking problem...

I'm trying to fix my leak, so I replaced the transmission seals, and am gunna change the rear main seal, but I think what is leaking is above the transmission...What is the part in the picture below and could I take it off and make a new gasket for it? Could this be causing my leak?

clos up..

It's right above the clutch etc...

No idk what it is lol it could be, that would suck. I'll take a look under there a little closer when I can get out there and work on it again. If it was that, I probably won't be able to fix that till next summer...oh well it's just a tiny leak, and I don't notice any oil being gone when I check it.

Anyone know what this cover is for, and if it could cause the leak?

That is the cooler for the EGR system. Has coolant and exhaust gas flowing through it, cools the exhaust before the hot gas enters the intake manifold, for better performance.

Thats what the plate thing is too? Not the silver pipe, the plate that is bolted on above it? If so, thats not the leak?

The "plate thing" is the EGR COOLER. The silver pipe is just that, a silver pipe for coolant, I think it is for the heater, either supply or return.

that plate is a royal pita when the head is still the truck. after rebuilding my engine, first time putting coolant back in, it leaked from there, almost impossible to get to with the tranny in place.

if you can do it now while the tranny is out , seal it up good.

make sure its coolant that your leaking though. if its oil, which is kinda what it looks like, it could be from the valve cover gasket at the back leaking oil down?
