'95 4Runner, power brake failure

'95 4Runner, 3.0L, auto.
Everythings been working fine, even on the way into work this morning.
Went to leave for lunch and the brake pedal felt a little strange, maybe a little stiffer as I backed out of the parking space. The first time that I had to actually use the brakes, I had no power assist at all.
Brakes work fine. No brake light. Nothing obviously amiss under the hood, but NO power assist at all

Brake booster or is it also controlled by one of the vsv's ?
Thoughts ?

Thanks,
Fred

there's a vacuum line that goes to the booster...check to see if there's a leak..or disconnected..

Yup, I'll check that, however I would think that if it were loose or disconnected, that the engine would be running sort of crappy.
Engine still running smooth as silk ..

Thanks,

Turned out that it was the booster.

A quality remaned $150.00..

thats crazy, my break booster just went out this summer too. i still havent fixed it, i've just been driving around wiht no power breaks.... fully loaded pulling a trailer over mountain passes was fun had i needed to come to a full stop from rolling at 75 it would have taken me 1/4 - 1/2 mile easy... how hard was it to replace it? did you do it yourself or take it to someone. any tips, suggestions, etc. i need to do mine soon its real dangerous and plain scary to drive it.. plus i have no e-break due to my leaf conversion, (also in the plans to get fixed)
