Cool to actually see someone "USE" their snorkel for a change!

no distributor cap or electrical problems? What about water gettn in through the doors?

How did the radiator fan come out in that test? Remind me to never buy a used truck with a snorkel.

I just used dielectric grease on all the connectors and plug leads. I put a toyota factory rubber booth over the distributor which seems to help. the truck seems to be sealed quite well with the door seals..once the truck is moving it dosnt seem to be a problem.if you stop the water will slowly seep in. by the way i have a replacement Vinyl mat on the floor which replaces the entire carpet.

No problems with the clutch fan...it just slips with water resistance..does not bend forward and rub the radiator.

Looks like alot of fun. Snorkel or not, I just wouldnt have the balls to drive my 4runner into water that deep. Whats the deal with the hood scoop? Why is it off center? Whats under it that would require having one?

Im with Dale, remind me NEVER buy a used truck with a snorkel!!

Hood scoop is just to cool the intake manifold...truck runs much better with a cool intake manifold...Ram Air while driving..cool manifold means cool air entering the engine...little bit more efficient. Most modern engines have plastic intakes now for that same reason.....Whats wrong with taking the vehicle off road..The car has no ill effects..and is well taken care of. I used to live in South America and the only vehicles that stand up are the Toyotas..We drive them on roads like that every day!!!I had an 87 22R until 2000 until i sold it...It lived OFF Road almost its entire life.

Deepest I ever taken my rig was water up over the hood for a moment... before i slammed it in reverse and got the ef out, water flooded the distributor and it died a short time later. :-p

thats about 4ft of water or so..deepest I ever drover through was maybe 3ft without problems.

Tho in all honesty, I avoid water. It just is not good for any rig LOL

I want to get a snorkle for the 97' Runnner
BUt even then I prolly wouldn't have the balls to go through that unless I was pushed to the edge by friend
(and unfortunelty my freinds are very very pursuasive...)
