I've got a 95 3VZE, just replaced water pump, timing belt, & thermostat last week. It now overheats (or gets close) after driving w/ AC on. No consistent amount of time/ mileage before it happens. Have had it flushed 3 times since. Ideas?
The radiator was rebuilt 8 months ago, the engine fan, and radiator fan(? the fan between the grill and radiator) were replaced then also. Water pump leaked a little then, but did not become worse til lately. I never let the water get to low. The thermostat never moved until a couple of weeks before the water pump repairs, but it never overheated or came close until after.
The radiator fan comes on strong when first cranked, then idles down pretty quickly soon after, could this be the case?
The fan clutch seems to have plenty of tension.
I very much appreciate any and all help!

 

Are you doing the flush and refill yourself? Maybe your getting air caught inside somewhere? Need to make sure you burp your system well and do it while your engine is running with the radiator cap off and squeeze your hoses to work the air out. Other than that, who knows.

 

I had a general repair shop do it, but the air bubble thing I discussed w/ them. i spoke w/ my Radiator shop this A.M., they said if it has an actual ''clog'' somewhere, flushing won't help, it would have to be rodded out, this might be my next step. Thanks so much!

 

Based what you've done so far & symptoms, my first guess would be clogged radiator; second guess is fan clutch.

 

RIght on, thanx. Gonna take it to the dealership tonite or tomorrow to get whatever it is fixed properly.

Switched out the Therm. Waiting to hear the dealer diagnosis.

 

So what happen?

 

Replaced the radiator, solved the overheating. There's still an occasional slight coolant leak that I can't find. Nothing major, and there's no rhyme or reason to when it happens. I can't see it coming from anywhere, it hits the ground in the center under where the tranny meets the block.

 

same thing happened to me do a block test the head gasket might have blown

 

Done that, gasket's good. Thinking/hoping it's a small hole in a hose.

Check the tiny, u-shaped bypass hose directly behind/beneath the passenger side plenum.

 

Is it on top of the block? I had that one replaced a year ago, but can't hurt to check it again anyway, thanx
