94 valve covers-is it hard?

hey guys i bought this 94 fourrunner for 2500 and it has 192000 mi. its really clean but the valve covers leak and the valve trin is making noise(ticking).i know how too work on chvy smallblocks but this thing is a pain too work on.i need too adjust valves and change gaskets,any advice would help cause it looks like alot of work,i know the spark plugs def were!lol. oh yea what do yall think of small block chevy swap, has anyone done one??

So what kind of motor do you have in this 94 4Runner? I'm going to guess it's a 3.0 by the "ticking" noise you're describing.

yea its a 3.0 v-6.im pretty good on chevys but this thing is def different!

The drivers side is a peice of cake, remove TB (if you want more room) and intake.

Passenger side, well hehe thats a different story.

You will have to remove the intake, tb, upper intake and all associated tubes/hoses. Take a gander at the 93 FSM posted in the sticky.

Make sure you torque the bolts to spec, so many guys snap them.
And use FIPG (or black RTV) where the FSM says too, this is critical!

they're solid lifters, but under the cam
so if the clearance isn't correct, you have to measure the clearance, pull the shim from on top of the lifter, mic the shim, then calculate and purchase the shim you need to set the clearance proper.
