94 V6 clutch / flywheel replacement

So it was time for a new clutch at 198k. Took the truck in and ordered a New clutch kit from Rock Auto and a new Flywheel from LCE performance.

Since I purchased the truck at 194k I was uncertain what was going to the be in there. My main concern was with the flywheel as replacements seemed to be knocked all over the internet. (The 50 dollar Chinese ones) “LUK “ was to hit and miss in reviews and getting to it once it was in was going to be a pain. Factory ones with a resurface seemed to be a popular choice. When I got the LCE one I noticed right away. Well made and HEAVY. I planned to go with a factory Aisin clutch and called LCE to see which flywheel to use. The 35lb steel was recommended.

The clutch is where I ran into issues. I ordered a Aisin clutch kit part number CKT016. But it did not align with either the factory flywheel or the new LCE one. I ended up having it all opened up and having to buy Direct from Toyota. If I had known and had more time I would have maybe ordered a kit from LCE also.

Rock auto did refund my total purchase and paid shipping so I’m happy about that.

So my report on the LCE flywheel/factory clutch kit is positive so far. The heavy flywheel seems to really get it moving in 4th and 5th. Between 60 and 80.

The early gears seem seem a bit more sluggish but as I stated on the highway it really gets going.

Just some info for the next guy in case your shopping for these items.
