0k, flame me if you want for asking this, but,

im changine my clutch tommorow on my taco, its been slipping for a while now, and i was wondering how important it is to get the flywheel resurfaced after i change it. and why should i get it resurfaced? get the burnt stuff off? just cause its better for it?

i dont think that metal has hit metal yet on the clutch,

It may be the most important step. Skip it and the clutch may not break in correctly. Voila - new clutch that slips. I found a machine shop who did mine for $25. Search my clutch post - I have the specs that Marlin recommends if you want more bite with the clutch.

It is the same thing as having the rotors resurfaced when you change pads. You might get away with it, but why take the chance. And having to pull the tranny a second time is alot harder than having to redo the rotors if you don't like the way the new clutch works.

dang, thats what i figured, well it's not the money so much as its just now the beggining of me doing fireworks season and i dont have alot of time being down, but oh well its important,

What is up with you people that work in the pyro technics industry and Tacos. Every Pyro technics person I've come across has a taco...and I gotta admitt some really nice ones too. Even the one company at my job site, one of the people there has a beautiful silver Taco.

It really depends on what kind of condition the flywheel is in. I've hand sanded many flywheels and never had one slip because if it, but if there is any kind of groove or warpage, then you need to get it surfaced. If you sand by hand , use a flat block and put a cross hatch, sanding at 45 degree one way then back the other. What your need to do is break the glazed surface so the friction plate can break-in.
