Where I live (the Netherlands), rear diff lock was optional on 4Runners.
All had a stock rear LSD.
Hiluxes had the LSD as an option, but no rear diff lock. But all off them had the rear diff lock light in the SR5 clusters. But no bulb in the hole, or wire on the cluster connector.
If you shine a light from behing the cluster you'll see.

What was your axle code? Just curious. To the OP, no 2nd gen 4Runners ever came equipped with a locking differential in the states or even a LSD.

Its a rudimentary form of ABS. 90-95 4Runners had a 2wheel ABS option which stopped the rear wheels from locking up in a panic stop. The system never worked very well, and they started offering 4Wheel ABS in 1994 as a replacement.

Thanks DeathCougar. Sooo for what i think that light only will come on, on the case that the rear wheels try to stop......that will be correct?.

Here in venezuela im starting to going alot to the mountains but not for rock crawling (yet.....jijijiiji) the rods im doing for the moments are alot of hill like the one on your profile picture deathcougar. I got my truck like 2 years ago, and im pretty sure it is almost stock. I change the engine, hopping to get and 3.4 but never came so a 0Km 3.0
for the rest a have just make little improvements. like 11mts radio on the ashtray spot....and led lights. I plan to make it SAS some day.....not soon. remember im in venezuela!!!! so a rear diff lock with work fine for the moments. Can some one here could tell me about the best lock for the rear, remember that the runner is my daily drive, so the option that have arb is nice. but i dont wanna spend that much for ocaccional (2 or 3 times a month). Thanks every one.
