I have a 93 4Runner with the 3.0 and i just compleated a head gasket replacement. It seems to be successful but now the engine doesn't run right. It idles rough but runs fine at about 20mph but when igo full throtle there is no response. It will shift down a gear but doesn't go. when i let off to about 1/3 throtle it gets a little boost, but i havn't been able to get it over 50mph. It actualy ran its best with no cat or muffler on it. I have checked the timing and all the vacume lines, and now i just don't know. If anyone has a sugestion let me know.

 

maybe the cat is plugged up

 

Recheck your plug wires. I had #3 and #5 swapped and had the same symptoms. Embarrasing, but worth checking if you have not already.

Bah! Master my ars....hehe. No, it's actually just something I wouldn't have thought of. Probably because I've never mixed up wires. But, that's not saying anything because I've certainly had my fair share of "dumb" moments....lol!
