93 22re Start then Stop

Have an issue where my 1993 22re standard 2wd pickup will start up, run 5 seconds then shut down. What I know: fuel pressure holds 38psi, new EFI relay, new plugs cap and rotor, injectors just serviced, all fuses intact. Will not start with warm up injector unplugged as if it is starting on warmup injector alone. Appears that all 4 injectors have no signal. Any experience with this. Have an emotional connection to this truck, can't let her go. Please help!

Was the EFI relay bad??

Have you already done the FP to B+ on the check connector if so does it still not run ???

Go from there.

I lean toward a bad Circuit opening relay or the AFM switch no longer closing

EFI relay replacement did not change anything. I may not have this quite right from what I have read, but the AFM test is to move the flapper to start the fuel pump...there is not a fuel pressure problem, so can it be an issue?

I did not do the jumper but will do it now. The COR runs the fuel pump, right? But I have proper fuel pressure.

I will also locate the COR, it's not where my manual says it is, and go through steps to ohm it out. Thanks

It was a no go with the Fp to B+ jumper. Starts right up runs smoothlyfor a couple seconds then immediately shuts right back down.

What does the Fp to B+ jump out? What does it indicate when there was no change? Does it eliminate anything from my list of things to check? Thanks for your help.

OK, battery + to fuel pump. Eliminates COR...I'm learning. Please understand that I bought this 1993 pickup new, it has never been in a shop, I do everything for it. Two head gaskets, a timing chain and cover, and a couple alternators later it has 475,000 miles on the original engine and drivetrain. Never had any problems, not even a blown fuse. So some of the diagnostic checks are new to me.
I understand that if the igniter does not see spark it tells the ECU/ECM to shut the injectors off so the engine will not flood. Sounds exactly like my symptoms. Engine starts but only on warmup injector but immediately shuts down because injectors are not cycling.
Will look for information on igniter.

If it is starting then dying, sounds like your AFM is not connected. If you are suspecting your injectors not firing, https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...t-22re-270857/ if it is getting a signal, it could be the crimps in the harness are bad. It has happened to me twice. The signal cant get thru the corrosion in the crimps.

these crimps are just wire to wire unions in the wiring harness?

Yes, they crimp two injectors on one wire. On this link https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post51897320 "The Good Wiring Diagram" shows injectors 1/3 and 2/4 share the same wire. That is how it is in the harness. Do you live in a humid area? From what I seem to think is trucks that arent exposed to wet weather like in the south west part of the country dont experience it. I have seen alot of fluids, sand and other things get into the wiring loom.

Even in the FSM there really isnt a good check for the Igniter. I know they do fail but it is rare. If you are getting spark, by grounding the plug to a ground and seeing a spark I would say it is good. I have seen spark and the coil still be bad. My guess is it is not a hot enough spark to ignite the fuel. I would check the Primary and Secondary on the coil if you are suspecting the problem to be on the firing side.

Try to see if it is on the Firing or the Fuel side.
