i really don't care much for YOUTUBE....my son will find stuff and that's OK, but I really don't care for it much, just doesn't appeal to me.
hopefully Gerone will get back to me before I have to leave about 830am tomorrow.......I'd really like to pull the trigger on ordering the stuff, but if I'm gonna get killed with shipping, it will negate any savings....

Shipping should be too bad...you're not getting anything all that heavy. I think from your list there it's less than 5 pounds.
What's a henweigh???
Bout 5 pounds!!!

thanks.
yeah, seriously....that 20+lb thing was about $16 so I figure ought to be around $8 or less....here's hoping, and here's hoping everything is in stick and here's hoping he gets back to me, he replied once but didn't answer me about the shipping, FIPG price or crush washer price.
not too impressed with the local dealer especially when i asked about black FIPG and they asked me "for what year vehicle?".

me too.
at this point (and i have yet to place the order because he and i are emailing back and forth about crush washers) i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.
the amount of money i will save by going with them is probably at around or about 20% savings compared to the local dealer. maybe the local dealer could have done better in person, but in my dealings with them in the past and my most recent 'what year" to the FIPG question, they have not changed much.
being in a position where I work where customer service is very important, i understand how important it is to make a good 1st impression....but if you mess that up you still can redeem yourself on the 2nd,5th and 20th impression too.....not the case with the local dealer.

well.......still waiting to hear back about the crush washers....other than that i think i'm good to go with my list. that 2 part thermostat is a little steep. I have a thermostat that is essentially new, but that 2 part one is intriguing.
any other items for the list anyone can think of??

anybody remember this pic? the stuff that i found in my pan?

well it turns out that bolt is the one I dropped in there taking off the oil strainer tube. so it was not a stray bolt.
i have been looking for a stray bolt under the truck, or anywhere , that belonged to the tube. i went through a shoebox of bolts from the diff / oil pan / oil strainer ...accounted for everything and bagged them. but i realized i was still short a bolt.
i was able to quickly get that bolt from the jar that sits on my desk with all the stuff that was in the pan. so now, i'm good to go with that.
just need gerone to reply saying he has the crush washers and i will place my order.
c'mon Gerone...........!!!!!

so yesterday, to celebrate finding all the bolts..i decided to clean all the pan and strainer bolts.
here's how i did it.
1st of all,the oil pan bolts were caked with old oil and dirt and original GRAY FIPG.
dropped all the bolts in a tall plastic cup and then sprayed PB Blaster in the cup until it filled higher than the level of the bolts. I swirled the bolts around in the cup and and shook and shook and let them soak in there for a few hours and the shook and shook them some more.
i drained the liquid through a paper towel as to not lose any of the bolts and the 1 by one picked the bolts out and peeled the FIPG off of them.
i then took a 2nd cup, dropped the bolts in there and dropped some imitation GOJO hand cleaner in there and did the same mixing and agitating of them , rinse and repeat over and over. then as 1 last cleaning I took one of the nuts (remember, it's 16 bolts and 2 nuts that fit on the studs on the block) and ran the nut on each and every bolt. then i did the old imitation GOJO trick again, rinsed and at the end had sparkly clean bolts.
repeated the whole thing for the strainer bolts, but since they were for the most part protected in the engine, they didn't have the goop on them as the oil pan bolts did.
