'92 Pickup: Tranny ID

So I've never owned a Toyota vehicle before, but I'm looking into a '92 4x4 Pickup w/ 22re motor and 5 spd to replace my troublesome '89 cherokee. I've been struggling with electrical issues on my daily driven '89 cherokee and have decided to get rid of it. The truck I'm looking at has a bad tranny and I was considering replacing it. What model tranny did the '92 4x4 trucks come with and what will swap in from other year models? Also, what are some issues with that year model truck that I should be aware of?

Thanks,
Justin

Your best bet would be to replace it with another w56, which is what you should have in it now.
You can also fit a g58, but it is the light duty version of the w56, so only do that if you have to.
