90 4 runner clutch bracket repair

90 4 runner clutch bracket repair
Greetings.....
Son has a 90, 3.0 4 runner and we are wondering for those who have removed them and welded them, what procedure you went through. I've searched the archives, but only found posts about problem brackets and symptoms.
His popped and the bracket cracked last week, like everyone whose posted about it, has. Hes broke, and wants to try to do it himself. Besides removing the dash, does he need to remove the steering colum and such?
