89 22re Cold Start

The Truck Doesnt Start when The Engine Is Cold Untill After About 5 Min. Of Trying To Crank It. Once The Motor Is Warm It Will Crank Right Up Every Time. The Battery Is Good. Thank You

sounds like you've got a problem with the cold start injector or switch, or both.

You can also check the wires going to a brown plug and a green plug on the front of the intake just below the throttle body. Mine came loose a while back and then it had trouble starting cold before I fixed it. Try the easy cheap stuff first before buying parts.

The plugs have a red box around them in this picture:

Nope, the cold start injector time switch. The cold start injector time switch signals the cold start injector when to cylce on. Cold start injectors almost never go bad, it's cold start injector time switch that's the common culprit.

Thanks For The Picture, That Helped Me Out Alot. I Noticed The Ground Wire From The Negative Terminal To The Body Was Shot And The Ground To The Chassis Was Pertty Oxidized So I Changed The Body Ground And Cleaned The Chassis Ground And It Cranked Up Perfectly With No Hesitation The Next Mornin When The Motor Was Cold. But Then Yesterday It Took 2 Tries To Crank It, Which Is Still Way Better Than Before I Changed The Wire. I'm Prolly Still Going To Order The Switch Though

Im having the same problem. I posted this queston, if I jumped the time switch plug, shouldnt the truck start right up if the switch was bypassed?
Not to run it like that just to see if the switch is working or not.

Im having the same problem with my 91. Does your truck smoke like its dumping fuel? I also can smell gas really bad. Did anyone have results when replacing the cold start injector?
