88 22re to 22r with weber swao

so its happend I have swapped a 22re with a 22r. It all started out with my 88 pickup with a 300xxx mile motor finally gave up on me.a first she was using oil about that time I had bought a weber 32/36 for the swap but still was waiting till she crapped out long story short she blew the water pump and also i found copper shavings in the oil so a good excuse to do a motor swap. luckly i had a 90s 22re that i rebuilt that has less than 5000 miles. so i stripped it down to head and block installed the 22r intake and the new weber, put on a mechanical fuel pump and dropped it into my truck. after a day of messing with wires from the 22re harness i narrowed it down to six wires, temp, oil pressure,starter,black/yellow coil wire to b+ wire from efi diagnostic terminal. than i spliced the black/red and black/white coil wires to black/red wire coming from the efi harness. after getting everything hooked up she starts and runs but extremly rich but im thinking thats caused by no fuel regulator...yes i unhooked the efi fuel pump. i havnt had a chance to tune the carb when i tried the idle mixture screw nothing changed more than likely due to high fuel pressure.now the only thing im waiting on is the regulator. any way here are some pics of the swap

Why ??? I mean really, why take a technological step backwards ? Was you EFI system screwed up so bad that is was cheaper to put a Weber on it ?

parts up here arnt as readily availble as in the states. as well as being more exspensive up here. yes i like the efi when its all working correctly but as soon as sensors get old it becomes less efficient and more of a hassle. its mainly a prefrence and something new to learn and enjoy. i have never owned a 22r now i do when i build my next truck though it will probably be efi.
