Yes, this is on the list. Can someone remind me - we get rear shoulder belts from the same year model pickup front seat belts right? And it replaces the lap belts completely right?

Just need to find a pair online or at a salvage place.

I painted the roll bar on my gray one. This one looks pretty good in person. And with the soft top and leather cover, you really don't notice it. I may eventually repaint it, but it's far down the list.

Mmmm. It looks like they're for the simple cab truck, not for the 4Runner. I'm going to check mthe ones in my 4R...

That was my guess. If so, they're going back!

I think her Ebay description is wrong - I'm guessing the Truck and 4Runner ones are different!

"Toyota Chrome Rain Gutter Trim (matching set of two passenger and drivers side) off of a 1988 Toyota Standard Cab Pickup. These will fit 1984 - 1989 Toyota 4runners and 1984 - 1988 Toyota Pickups."

Beautiful job Charles!

Toyota Chrome Rain Gutter Trim - I replaced my stock black ones with an 86 xtra cab "chrome" ones and I had to cut them back some so yours are definitely for a regular cab...
Are you keeping the stock 4.31 gears or planning on changing those out too? I run 33x10.5, 22RE Auto with 4.31's and it does OK but have been debating going with 4.88.

Charles - First of all, the truck is sickeningly beautiful with those fresh graphics....to answer a couple of your questions, yes I keep my Softopper bar in there just like you have it. To be honest, never even thought of pulling it out, and it's never fallen out, although I usually don't drive on the highway much at all with top rolled up. And for the LED flasher relay, obviously the one you have works, but if you get this one, it will plug right in without those jumper wires: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post52364407

i actually used a set from my '95 subaru legacy wagon, the complete belts from the rear seats (2 shoulder and one lap for the center). also used the subaru mounting hardware (bolts), which fit perfectly in the toyota threaded bolsters. color is same grey as my front originals. cost: $0.00

i had/have a write-up on t4r.org.

Thanks. With the turbo, the stock 4.31 gears seem fine. The Turbo seems to kick in as soon as it gets "sluggish". And I use the O/D Off button quite a bit (more than the ECT).

Good to know on both! The flasher relay is now zip-tied tight and will be behind the kick-panel, so it's good for now. I may eventually replace it with the one you had posted above - just wish I had found it before I bought the one I did (literally the exact same price)!

Thanks. So something like this wouldn't work right?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/84-89-Toyota-4Runner-right-rh-passenger-seatbelt-seat-belt-retractor-grey-gray/253555513615?hash=item3b0916190f%3Ag%3AQmkAAOSwGW9 azlBd&_sacat=0&_nkw=89+4runner+seat+belt&_from=R40 &rt=nc&LH_TitleDesc=0

those might work, but i bet they'd need length mods, ie, cutting and restitching. the front belt "inner side" anchors would need to be modified, too (remove the plastic sheath, and they might not fit in the rear mounting spots).

That's what I was thinking. Which OEM ones do fit well? I.e. which ones should I be searching for - are there any OEM ones that just "fit"?

i do not know which, if any, are direct fit (NO modifications needed).

pics of the driver side carpeted kick panel - about half of the staples are rusted/corroded away. the plastic is complete (no cracks, breaks, missing parts. the carpet appears complete, with a few minor stains. it still has the edge "trim" at the top and bottom. both fasteners are still attached (upper and lower) to the bolsters.

Here's what I had found in the past:

"Hi all. I was looking forever to find a good solution for rear shoulder belts for my 89 4runner. This may have been posted before, but this is what I found. I was at the wrecking yard and pulled some front belts out of an 88 single cab truck. They come with plastic covers on the belt housing and bolt directly to the roll bar. There is even a stud that matches the hole just above the bolt hole in the roll bar. This may or may not be exactly what the optional rear belts were for the 4runner, but they were a direct bolt in with no mods necessary and look great. Hope this helps anyone looking for a similar solution."

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-belts-214268/

And another one:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...k-seat-150672/

And the last post on this one (ignore other posts about an aftermarket solution):
"Here's mine, did it today. It took about 30 minutes. These are 4runner front seat belts, the original bolts screwed in the roll bar."

Yep, I have shoulder belts from a first Gen single cab pickup in my back seat, grab the mount bolt with them for the upper point on the roll bar if you go to junkyard.

Those gutter trims're shorter than mine, I think they're for the single cabin truck.
Besides that, yours're metalic trims, like the fender ones, mine're made of plastic and painted in chrome look-alike color, they'were fixed with black silicone. They lost their shape since I took them out, to the point it's difficult to re-install them back, something I don't plan to do. In fact, I'd like to remove the windshield ones, I've read some threads about that, but I don't know the best way to replace them yet.

I don't know about your softtop, but in my Can-back version, there are some locking buttons in the tail gate telescoping tube, that allows the tube to be shorter when you roll up the fabric. You can do something similar in yours if you are afraid of losing it when you drive, you only need a metal tube with a bigger diameter you have and some of these things:
Amazon Amazon

I replace my exterior lights with leds, but I kept the conventional light bulbs in the small fender markers, that way I don't need led flasher relay.

Your truck looks amazing, one of the fastest resto threads in YT.

That 4R deserves some photos in a nice place, in nature, and after that you should do a photo album, like the wedding ones.
