i get that, but wouldn't the "no-sale" inclusions be more representative of the market? i know it isn't a huge difference, although $2K is big enough for me.
it would include those that didn't meet the reserve because the seller overvalued it, which is part of setting the market.

obviously if we averaged all the sales on ebay, we’d get a different number than on BaT. Significantly lower, i believe.
So, while I feel all the averages are useful, I like the highest one best!

i was strictly considering the BaT market. i don't care about the ebay market, for the reasons stated above. the BaT market is generally informed, and the commnents help make it so. ebay has none of that.
the point isn't that it sold for more on ebay (the seller found a sucker as far as i'm concerned). it was about the BaT average.
we also didn't include c-list in the average; more difficult, because there's no way to know the actual selling price, but we can infer an idea as to seller valuation/mindset by looking at listings.

But it seems we could consider Ebay sale pricing because I think(will have to check) equal or more first gen 4r’s are sold there than BaT. But then we’d have to divide the Ebay results up among class 1, 2, 3, 4 condition cars like other marques. BaT is unique because it is a curated site. Seems like mostly condition 2 and some condition 1 cars on BaT. Conversely, anybody can sell any crap car on Ebay.

Here we go with a modified ‘85 4runner...not typical for BaT.

Its a cool truck for sure. I guess I don’t see why you would buy that over a 4Runner in 1984? I mean, same drivetrain and all but the 4Runner was a legitimate Toyota built vehicle. Maybe the trailblazer builds were cheaper??

@RAD4Runner 'd like that tail gate.

@RAD4Runner 'd like that tail gate.
I've also seen the Northwest rack. The feet hug the corners of the cap, the most rigid, amd probably strongest points on the cap.

Here’s a great looking ‘85 4r. This one should bring a good price.

This one looks interesting. Obviously you can't put too much on the CarFax report regarding collision work, but it looks straight. I like the fact that the owner didn't acquire it two months ago, spray the frame with undercoating, and then list on BaT.

Next up, a sharp, black restored 88

Does the 3.4 engine swap affect value?
