4runners and pickups for sale on BAT

IMHO, for whatever it's worth (heh), it's because there are getting to be fewer and fewer geezers like us, than CAN drive a manual tranny.
Heck, you have to special order a manual to get one from a dealer new. And wait, and wait, and wait. They're not even an option any more.
I've had people looking into my trucks ask me what that third pedal is for. "Is it another brake, or something???" It's distressing.
I learned to drive on a 57 Chevy step-side pickup. Manual. Essentially, a 3 speed. First was a "granny low", so I hardly ever used it.
I don't LIKE automatic tranny's. I keep stepping on the side of the big, wide brake pedal, trying to push in the clutch. It's embarrassing. And annoying!
All just my opinions, of course.

There’s been a drought, but finally a sharp black 4runner to watch.

seller is having a semi-meltdown over the max bid being only $11k. half of the pictures were out-of-focus, too, which never helps.

I thought that one would land right around $14k.
For me, the copart auction history, cheap rims, running boards, tacky LED lighting, unstated engine swap mileage, dirty interior and poor detailing held it back, although it appears to be all there with original parts included. Perhaps there’s a seasonal component too.
Hold till next spring.
i just averaged all the first gen 4runner sales on BaT in 2020 YTD. There were 14 sales so far. The average hammer price was $17,958.

This one is not on BaT but is the cleanest first gen i’ve ever seen so thought it was worth reposting.

super clean, with the chrome wheel arch trim and chrome gutter trim, even for the hard top gutter!! a few stains on the rear interior panels, but intact. love the original wheels.
i agree, really, really nice. but not $44K nice, to me.

it is clean, but the top trim is broken on the passenger side. also, the hvac control insert is for pre-'87, unless toyota used them for '87 models up to mid-october 1986, because both of my october 1986-made '87 4runners have the later panel insert. edit-it's made in june of 1987, so i believe the panel is added, not original.

I think you're right, but also think it's because people who still own manuals are realizing their value and are hanging on to them. In my area you can buy an automatic gen 1 Tacoma for 2500. That same truck with a manual would be going for 7K+.

it was this 4runner a Mitsubishi Montero and a Suzuki Samurai.

used the same blurry, out-of-focus pictures there, too. no way i'd pay $15.5 K for that one; just shows there are suckers out there, and those are easier to find on ebay than on BAT. BAT is unique in that it has/allows the comments, which can educate buyers and sellers. less likely to score a huge deal on BAT, but also less likely to buy a turd.
