just immaculate condition all around. I would love to have that for my daily, although the 2nd gen is a bit more comfortable. I don't know if I could bring myself to take it offroad...

I generally do not like blue interiors, but I'd be happy to have that Blue on Blue Turbo...that thing looks great.

The photographs of the Blue Turbo 4Runner look as if they came from a sales brochure at a Toyota dealership back in the 1980s!

Absolutely beautiful!

I am adding these to my desktop background slideshow.

agree those are amazing photos. If you look very very closely you can see quite a bit of orange peel in the paint on the tailgate and a dent in the right front fender. The underhood shots show the edges of the fenders were not painted, so not a very detailed paint job. The mileage is fairly high also, so i don’t think this one will be a record setter. Stay tuned.

Damn. That's a nice 4runner but 30 grand is a much newer, nicer safer vehicle. I guess of you're a collector though......

I'm amazed. Chris and I have been watching these auctions. The trucks are beautiful, but I am amazed at the prices with higher mileage engines that are "freshened" up without a complete rebuild. Have they really become collectibles?

Chris' 4r has a fresh rebuild with new clutch and all accessories redone. Transmission seals redone. ZERO leaks. Suspension completely redone. The paint is weathered but is a solid zero rust desert truck with no accidents and very minor door dings. Straight. I suggested he carefully remove the weathered graphics, very gently block the car and put a satin clear on it to highlight the body's soundness. Interior is perfect. An SR5 with air and all the goodies. He could pay off his college loans.

This is crazy stuff.

he might be able to pay them off, but he also might never find another one in the same condition. and live with the regret of selling it.

Nice looking blue color
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ner-v6-4x4-11/

Wally, i know you liked that last one but it really needed substantial paint and body work. Still, it brought $22.5k

yeah, and the low miles were a plus, along with a really good and complete interior. chassis and undercarriage nearly perfect, too. i like it better than the blue one, which has a dirtier, worn interior, but an excellent body and frame.

it’s really hard to beat low miles on a 22re!

The rust on the underside is disheartening. Makes me wonder about why it was painted. I see this a lot on BaT.

Some quick flip job, not a full restoration.
This is the part of the toyota world that bothers me, the people who paint and throw decals on and put them up for auction.
theyre all good looking vehicles though.

i’m not sure which photo we’re talking about. Having grown up with New England cars, i don’t see anything that i’d be concerned about.

i know. both chassis/undersides (of the one that sold for $22.5K and the one still for auction) looked very, very good from my view. i still give the silver chassis a better rating than the blue one, but the blue one isn't bad at all.

true. This thread has more than one vehicle from BaT, so maybe we’re looking/talking about different ones. Though I still stand by my sentiment that a number of vehicles on BaT were purchased in the last 6 months, painted, and then put on BaT. Some do get proper reconditioning, or full blown restorations, but a lot get basic superficial work.
