The rear inner window sweep on my 87 4Runner is starting to come apart. I have a new set of clips but the sweep is discontinued. Has anyone tried maybe using a second gen sweep or have another solution?
From this drawing it looks like only the outer window seal uses the plastic clips on a second gen. The first gen uses the clips for both inner and outer. Can anyone with a second gen verify this?
Been a while but I found a good part to use for a replacement. The outer sweep from 2nd gen runners works. I pulled an inner and outer from a local yard for testing. The inner on second gens doesn’t use the plastic retainers, it used bendable metal tabs, so it doesn’t work. The outer is the proper length, and uses the same plastic retainers. Works great. I used a used part but I looked up the drawing and it appears to be available new for 28.50 P/N 682-89101 and you’ll also need the plastic retainer clips 68211-89113.
