I think 5" is too tall, hell my 4" is too tall but you're better off getting the 4" and removing a leaf because they are longer than the 3" and will flex better. I still need to remove a leaf all the way around. Not a 3rd gen. but you can get an idea. Here's my 4" front and 5" rear next to my stock 97 for scale. These springs have been on for about 1 1/2 years with several trips to Rausch Creek and Crozet. They haven't relaxed hardly at all.
