3.0L Engine starts great - then dies

I have a 1990 Toyota pickup with the 3.0 V6 engine. I bought it new 35 years ago and it has been a super dependable little truck. I like to do maintenance on this vehicle myself.

All of the sudden, the truck will start fine but stops running after 4 seconds or so. For the brief time it runs, it run perfectly normal. Plus, I can start it up numerous times in a row, and each time it starts perfectly, then dies.

I have checked the resistance of the 3 ignition pickup sensors and they all are within spec at 270-280 ohms. The cap and rotor look good. I have not checked the coil and ignitor yet, but it seems counterintuitive that it would start and run perfectly then die after a few seconds if those were bad. I am not sure what changes occur after a few seconds. Something does. But, it will start immediately after.

Most posts I have read seem to point to the ignition pickups. Anyone have any ideas what might cause this that I haven't checked?

Thanks!

Test the VAFM
The fuel pump circuit requires a signal from it in order to continue to run after cranking

Maybe someone did a post about a truck that runs a few seconds then quits:

Thanks scope103! That was it. I followed the instructions and it was one of the coils in the COR. Replaced it and it runs like a champ again!

I appreciate you directing me to that thread. I looked all over and never saw that one. Ir was on the money though!
