4runner won't start sometimes, engine stumbles then dies, starts with start spray
Hi there, I have a 1992 4runner sr5 with a 3VZE engine and automatic transmission. I bought it a month ago. For the past week for some reason it will sometimes not start, It turns over fine but engine stumbles and bumbles like its choking for gas then dies, as its stumbling I push in gas pedal and get no results.
Has happened 3 times over a week, all 3 times while I run in store for about 30 minutes. When I came back out it wouldn't start. I spray starter spray into air filter and it starts. It runs great once it is started and running. So I was hoping someone could help with ideas on where to start looking for the culprit. A friend of mine thinks its a clogged fuel filter but I looked at the one on there already and it looks pretty new.
Like I said this only happened 3 out of the last approx 35 starts this week, when semi warm. Runs great when running and driving.
Thanks

4runner not starting when warm
No I have not figured it out yet...definitely seems like some kinda vapor lock....I'm gonna take it to my mechanic in a few weeks to figure it out. I'll repost when I know for sure. Frustrating at times, but not enough to start paying for the problem, the 4runner runs so nice otherwise so I'm not gonna start throwing parts at it just yet... I'm thinking fuel delivery system will ultimately be the cause of the problem, fuel lines, pump etc..
