you mean somewhere along the intake, as far as driveing the power is just a little bit less than normal, but when at idle it shuts off...

Unfortunately if it is a vacuum leak, it could be among any of the 3.0Million vacuum hoses in the engine bay. However if it's dying that readily, it's probably one of the larger hoses. Check the brake booster hose, and anywhere along the main air inlet from the air filter box to the resonator to the throttle body. One of the three parts on my air inlet tubing was cracked and couldn't get it to idle properly.

Might try spraying a little brake clean around some of the lines and see if the idle changes. TAKE CAUTION when doing this. The brake clean is flammable. I would advise doing this when the engine has cooled down a bit, but not overnight cold.

Any hissing going on under the hood? That's a sure sign of a vaccuum leak. What about the throttle body? Is it at least marginally clean?

throdle body cleaned with cleaner and hoses checked, drivers side 3 spark plugs changed, it still sounds like a old ford truck. it does feel a little better. i do hear a hissing noise now that i've had it running in the garage. i have not kept it runing long enough to get warm. it's got a smokey exaust, light black/gray smoke (the cat and muffler is new ) i changed the oil and the old oil looked good. there is no leak around the engine or tranny, tomarrow i will xchange the 3 passanger side spark plugs then if i'm still stumped and advise here does not work i'm takeing it to the shop. thanks so any info

hey guys, well i took a viedo and i'm just waiting for photo bucket to upload it. you will be able to hear the truck run off beat, engine is pretty load but all stock, no fan shroud so you can't really hear much. the intake is hissing, i poped off a vacuum hose to hear what that sounds like. so after that i can hear nothing but intake so i dont think i have a vacuum leak. viedo will be up in a few moments

try the junk yard first, the air flow meters don't go bad that often, and its worth a shot

oh my gosh, this dude had everything, i went to his house for a mass air flow meter and intake elbow for $100....a very fair price, this dude gave me the whole air box and everything. so i gave everything i had on me $120....i thought it was well worth it. he has everything you could imagine for toyota trucks. a huge house, with lots of land and under every tree was a land crusier jeep.....yes under every freaking tree this guy is the best for parts and a very fair price. he had a brand new f250 desil that ran on vegi oil.....50 cents per gallon....dude let me find his id and i will post it, he is the nicest person you will ever meet....
