I have searched hundreds (probably thousands) of pages and I still have not found the one answer that I am looking for. I understand that the OME 900 or 901 coils will provide ~1.5 inches of lift FROM the factory height. My question is, I have gotten different replies as far as the LC coils as to whether the claimed lift is BEFORE or AFTER sag? Basically, my 4runner has a 2inch BL on it (didnt want to cut hood for 3.4 swap) and I want another couple inches. So, the question is, how much do the LC coils lift from a factory height? Because if it is 3-4 inches before sag, that would make it about the same height as the ~1.5 inches from factory the OMEs give (depending on how bad your personal booty sags). Hopefully that made sense to anyone but me. Any help?

 

Replicant, I can tell what my experience has been. I went through the whole gammit. I replaced my stock SAGGY coils with some Moog progressive rate cargo coils. This brought the rear of my 95 4R up to looking even with the front which probabley meant .5 to 1" over stock because of the difference between the cut of the rear fender well compared to the front. ( I say probabley because i'm not sure of what "stock" height is) I later removed them and replaced with some LC coils which lifted the rear more than 3" over the Moog's. This caused me to go down the road in a nose dive position and resulted in a terrible drive shaft vibration even after adding Sordi ball joint spacers. Replaced the LC coils with OME 900's which gave me an 1.5" lift over the moogs and eliminated drive line vibration. I'm very happy with the OME's which didn't sag even after adding new bumpers. They gave me some lift and resulted in the nicest ride my 4r has ever had. If it helps I have a picture of all three sets of coils lined up together. Good luck.

 

LC = more lift & cheaper but doesn't hold as much weight

OME 901s - .5 of a lift less, more expensive and can easily handle 400 lbs

 

Thanks for the detailed answers. I think I will go with the OMEs, not sure on 900 or 901's yet as I dont do much hauling over ~50 lbs. 160 bucks though, OME sure is proud of their stuff.

 

They're well worth it. I had the 900's, just couldn't seem to get the front to match the rear and stay that way with the tired old stock torsion bars. I'm definitely keeping them to use to match the front when I get it sorted out, but I should add that the coil spacers aren't a bad idea either. Mine still handles better than it did with just the stock coils because the 1.25" spacers I installed are just enough to keep the rearend off the bumpstops for the majority of small to medium bumps. If you like the way your rig rides now and you don't plan on carrying weight, you should also consider coil and ball joint spacers.

 

I put coil spacers in mine to help out with my 170lb+ bumper. and its sitting level with a stock front end ( it also has a TJM bumper, winch and lights )

 

Can anyone say if the ome shocks are good to run with the LC coils or are the the LC coils to tall? If they are which shocks should I run with LC coils? Thanks

Yes I agree but this is just my toy and I have the lc coils already so my previous question still stands. Will the ome shocks work or not?
