22re temperature sender thread size
I’ve been thinking of installing a after market water temp gauge (stock sr5 dash one doesn’t work) so I would like to have the probe for the gauge take the place of the factory temp sender on the thermostat housing but can’t seem to find out what thread size the factory one is, If anyone has any idea I would be stoked to hear it

I can't tell you the SIZE, but I'm 99% the thread form is a British Standard Pipe Thread (Tapered) BSPT. https://www.ralstoninst.com/news/sto...and-bspt-seals
It's probably 1/8-28. (1/8 INCH? British? On a Japanese Truck? Go figure.)
Note that an NPT fitting is likely to be 1/8-27. Not only does it have a different thread form (60° rather than 55°), but a different pitch. Close, but no cigar. You could probably screw an NPT fitting into the hole, but it would probably leak, and it would probably damage the casting into which you're trying to screw it.

Curious; I looked up on Rockauto for an '89 pickup 22RE temp sender, and looks like straight threads with an "O" ring?
I'd just pop it out of the engine and have a closer look.
