Hey, Rocker, ....those are DLX 3nd gen seats, right? I ask because the SR5 seats I have out of a 93 wouldn't work.... WAY too hard on my ribs(the wings on the seats/lateral support are different then 1st gen SR5 seats.... too aggressive and the wing travels higher up toward the top of the seat on the SECOND gen runners than the first gens). Those look a lil more mellow on the lateral support portion. Which is something I can really appreciate~! lol.

What year they out of/what rig?

It's cool, um all I know is that they came out of a 97 runner, I have no idea if it was an sr5 or not, my buddy picked them up for me, it was a lot of work but totally worth it.

I started on it about 9am and finished about 6:30pm and took a 1 hour break to go into town to pickup hardware, so not too bad for a days work I guess

Only thing I wonder.....does the front passenger seat go up enough to let someone in the back?

And, ....again, SERIOUSLY looks great, Rocker!

its still idling like crap, i just adjusted it so i can at least drive it, its at all temps. it still has power, i really feel like its spark related.....all my injectors are working including the CSI and i changed the fuel filter just in case, i wish i had a setup to check my fuel pressure but i really think its more electrical than fuel.....also, its on craigslist right now, lol, kinda tired of messing with this stupid thing and outta money for now (going elk hunting on saturday for a week) but if i can fix it i would rather just keep it, im just kinda at the end of my rope right now. Also, there was a little bit of build-up on the contacts of my distributor cap so i cleaned those off, as well as the rotor, i dont know what a weak coil would do and dont know if theres a way to test it, also havent checked the resistance of the distributor pickup either.....

new dist. cap & rotor button might not be a bad idea, cant hurt and ur only lookin at about 20 bucks. i use napa b/c they sell brass or copper componets better than alu. but aside from that i would maybe try a local pull ur part & get stuff like coil afm also may be double check timing

Wish you were closer, Rocker... I have an AFM from an 87 you could try(Pretty sure it's the same part number)...But I doubt that's your problem off the top of my head.

Far as the coil/s there's a couple tests, even in the haynes, for the Coil, and the resistance at the secondary coil connector to the Dizzy(should be 140-180A.... Maybe 140K-180K? lol....been a while) There is also an air gap test for the dizzy.

I can understand your frustration, anyone would tell you I can! lol. But, .... you're probably THAT CLOSE, Rocker.... You CERTAIN it's not worth it for you to ask around and see if a shop will look at it or diagnose it for cheap/maybe free? Worst case scenario, you'll get substantially more for it if you sell it.

Best wishes on that, sale or not..... Hope to see you stuck it out and figured out the problem.

Tested the coil and the distributor pickup coil and both are within the correct range, dammit, why can't I just find something wrong lol

Plug wires are not new but pretty close, and in great shape, I have some extra wires I also know are good and tried those and no joy, one thijg I've heard of is the idle air control valve getting plugged up and also the EGR getting plugged and cause idle problems, so I hope to check that stuff out tonight

Gotcha

Well, IACV is more common to cause issues of "Just wont idle up when cold"... I've replaced mine for that very reason, OEM-New.... Now mine idles up. But, mine even not working, didn't effect the 'chunky syndrome'.

Far as EGR..... Hmmm, yeah, You could do a couple tests PER-FSM regarding the EGR and even try the 'bypass' method with a sliver of Coke Can/Beer Can slid in-between the EGR/Plenum Connector. (Do you have a Vacuum Pump?-MightyVac? ... You can pump vacuum into the proper connection, while warm and holding idle at 2000+ RPM and the idle should change, noticeably, IIRC).... As well as other tests for the BVSV, Modulator, etc.

Also.... Honestly, Rocker, ...it can't HURT to call around and ask who might be the right GURU to stop by and visit... I mean, why avoid that, right? You could wind up solving your issue in 5 minutes, like I did! (Well, it didn't SOLVE my issue... but after 5 MONTHS of chasing my tail, this guy figured it out running the rig temporarily on propane after 5 minutes! lol.... He also guessed what he concluded within thirty seconds, just putting his hand on the top end! haha).... Just think about it, or at least ask around, right? LOTS of Yota Specialists in OR, ALL OVER the state, ya know? Maybe even post a new thread asking for "HANDS ON HELP NEEDED IN/NEAR SANDY, OREGON, PLEASE?"

Ya ill try blocking off the EGR and see what happens, then I may start calling around, I just don't wanna spend a ton if money for someone to try and diagnose the problem, and then maybe he can't figure it out and I have to pay anyways ya know, that's what I'm afraid of

Ok its official, my EGR was the problem, the Budweiser beer can worked like a charm, I couldn't be happier, thanks Chef! I'm just gonna run it that way until I get back from elk hunting (no I'm not driving the runner) I've got another EGR from the other motor ill try before I go buy one!
