Very strange on the pulling 2 and 3 plug wires and running better..........

Definitely seems like, by the odds, it's more 'fuel' related. You swapped the motor and all that and didn't change the fuel filter? Not razzing, just curious. lol.

You'll get it, man.... Don't light it on fire just yet! lol.

Did you flush your fuel rail and lines out, VERY WELL, before putting everything back together? You'd be pressed to find it in my build, lol.... but SOMEWHERE in there, toward the beginning, when I got the motor back, installed it, etc., .....(THE FIRST MOTOR).... I started it up, first time, and something broke loose in the lines and TOTALLY froze up #2 injector. Had to tear it down again and take them in to RC Injectors in Torrance, CA.... they let me go back and I watched as they pulsed it, and rapped on it a lil, and GUSHhhhh, bunch of grime and brown crap came out and it suddenly just pulsed instead of being frozen on the shut stroke.

Maybe try tapping on them, sure, but first, LISTEN TO THE INJECTORS, ...make sure they're even pulsing, Rocker, k?

One thing I can verify is that all my injectors are working(used a long screwdriver and put it up to my ear while touching each injector and all were clicking away)

Ok so I put in a new fuel filter, and that isn't it, I checked my codes and its throwing 4 codes, 1.2,2.4,3.1, and 4.2. So 1.2 is rpm signal, no ne signal to ecv within 2 seconds of starting, 2.4 is open or short in intake temp sensor signal, 3.1 is airflow meter signal error, and 4.2 is vehicle speed sensor-no spd signal for 5 seconds when engine speed is above 2500......so can any of this cause my idle issue? And where should I start?

Wow, Code Festival, eh? I feel for ya...

Hmmmm, injectors are firing. That's why I was thinking, "Hmm, sounds more like an Ignitor or IGN issue, or something related to signal to injectors/spark timing, SOMETHING weird... because WHY ELSE would the stupid thing run BETTER with 2 and 3 plug wires pulled off!?!?!?!?

I am really curious... but I think you need to first, clear the codes.(write them down first, of course). If it runs long enough, it will store new codes when the thing starts going wacky! Sometimes, we disconnect and reconnect things while installing a motor, even when the battery is connected, near the end... and POOF, a code is born! lol.

RPM signal is usually the longggggggg wire with the larger connector that hooks up near the ignitor. My buddy was just having a problem that sounds JUST like yours... and that's what it was... that wire had been forgotten. Somehow, it kept running/or it had been disconnected at some point and he forgot. (What year is this thing again? Them codes look NUTTIN like mine. 89 4Runner?

It's an 89 runner, and I did have that connector unhooked but I did remember to hook it back up....it didn't have a single code before I pulled the header off to fix the stripped holes, seems stupid...........

Ok, so the RPM signal wire to the Ignitor is hooked up, good. BUT, did you disconnect it while the battery was connected to do the header stud repairs? If so, it MIGHT throw a code...not sure. ESPECIALLY if you maybe turned it over a couple times after the studs to check for leaks, ....then remembered to hook it back up. That routes to lots of stuff, and if it did happen like I'm asking, then it's possible that it would throw all kinds of codes. Just don't want you chasing your tail.... Just read my thread one day and you'll see why! lol.

Ok so I cleared all the codes and it still runs crappy at idle, if I'm in gear and putting the motor under a load it runs fine and has good power, it doesn't smoke at all but the exhaust smells a bit rich, possible cold start injector? The motor sounds like it has a lopey cam at idle, but it doesn't

Sounds like a connector fell off........

You can pull the CSI cable off to prove its not it.

Maybe a vacuum line fell off... , Brake booster line can be plugged too for testing.

Has to be something silly, 'cause all you did was put gas in it.

Ya I checked all the vacuum lines and they're good, and this problem started like 15 minutes before I got gas.....so dumb, also I did check all connectors and they're all where they're supposed to be, tried pulling the connector off the csi but if it was stuck open it prob wouldn't matter if the connector is on or off right?

Right! Like my #2 Injector stuck on first start up upon install of my rebuilt POS(stupid Drunken Machinists:pumps fists in air smiley: hahaha)... They can also stick open, I believe. This happens when CRAP flies out from the lines or rail or filter into the system, under pressure, then winds up blocking the 'go-go-goodies'! lol. Pull the connector from the CSI, then pull it from the plenum, turn the motor over(cold) and see if it's still shootin fuel. Plug up the hole the CSI came out of and be careful not to light on fire, K? lol. I know, you're not a knob, hahaa....but hey, can't hurt to mention the basic safety tips, right?

It happened BEFORE you got gas and stirred it all up? Hmmmm, that changes things in a sense, don't ya think? Unless, of course, you were driving around, sloshing stuff up in there and went straight to the gas station from getting it started? I don't think so,........you said, rather, that you drove it around until you ran it out, to test "how lowwwwwww can you go", right? lol.

Jo it was low because I had been driving the rig all week, I left for work headed for the gas station on my way(about 10 minutes from my house) and it started running like that just before I got to the station, just to clarify
