Not sure about Lunnzz,
I have 4.11's and 31/10.50's I think it's my biggest contributor to low power.
Looking at going to 30/9.50's next time I get tires.

Yep, you are about 10% over-geared with that size tire (28" is stock). Your biggest "bang for the buck" would be to swap in a set of 4.56 gears from a junkyard. You would get a real 10% increase in torque to the road plus better fuel mileage and your speedometer would read correct as well.

The stock 22RE is not a powerhouse, but it's decent. At 144 cubic inches, it should be making around 140 to 150 HP by today's standards. But alas, it's producing only 115HP +/-. I'm re-camming and upgrading mine to get a little more energy from it.
You might check the obvious stuff: compression, EGR valve, timing, cat converter, air cleaner, etc. to see if something is holding it back.

Truck is stock except the 31x10.5x15 tires. Not sure about the gears they are what ever stock is. I was thinking about the cat last night. I'll try to check it out today. And I know the 22re is no power house mine just seems to be losing power.

With my axle code of G292, I know my speedo should be off.
When I run it against a stop watch and a measured distance, The speedo figures correct.
When I run it against the GPS, it reads correct.
When I run it against those radar machines the local LEO put up. It reads correct.
Does anyone know what gear goes into the transfer case for the speedo? I suspect, someone put a different gear into it. But I need to know what they are.
I adjusted my valves as well last fall. Mainly for a tick in the valve train. Glad I did too. The #1 and #3 exhaust were way loose.
One other thing I found helped a lot last year, change your gear oil. Mine were no longer lubricants, they were sludge. I had to change them twice to get decent looking fluid to come out.
I can now hold speed in 5th gear and in December pulled a 2500 lb tandem axle trailer 200 miles in 4th gear. Still got 15mpg with it. This was before I messed with the air valve on the throttle body. It's not the idle speed screw on the throttle cam either.

Speedometers can be off, often enough to make them "correct" with tire size or gear changes. For example, I have 4.88s and 33" tires, my odometer is correct to less than 1% error. My speedometer is off about 7-8% (reads 70 when I am going 65 per the GPS). Both speedo and odo are driven off the same gear and cable.
Yes, the speedo gear could have been changed (I think the stock gear is something like 16 teeth, but I don't know for sure), or the axle gears may have been changed by a previous owner, or it is not uncommon for the axle code to be incorrect. The real answer to what ratio you have is to get a tooth count on the gears or do the wheel/driveshaft spin test.

4.56s woudl be wise, thats what I'm looking towards. Just gotta save up and do E-locker and Trutrac at the same time.
