22RE, best replacement motors?
#22
Buying. 22re used motor
I am looking at buying a used 22 re motor with 88,000 miles. The only place I called that gave me a good. "gut" feeling was Transmission Supply Network. (TSN). The woman (. Kristina) told me about some disreputable dealers in Florida selling used motors that have been in floods.(read : hurricanes) she told me about them with no prompting.
Anyway , I am looking for anyone that has dealt with this company. I've had bad luck with jdm and rebuilt motors. U would rather buy used.
Please respond if anyone has info on this outfit.
Thank you.
Long winded ,sorry

OK, I did some searching and have come to a bit of a conclusion. Correct me if I am wrong on any of this...
ATK: Hit or miss. Some good and some problematic. Good warranty (but good chance you'll need it)
Oregon Engine Rebuilders: Sounds pretty good. Good price. Just leery about a small outfit far away from me. Excellent warranty.
Orient Engine: Sounds good but website is dead. Still in business?
Jasper: Sounds like they have a good rep. No bad reports found. Good warranty. Expensive. Worth it?
22re Performance: Good rep. Fair price. Only has 12K warranty.
Anybody actually have a motor from any of these outfits? Would love to hear the good, bad and ugly.

My opinion....
Factory build I'd go with Jarco.
Jarco does 0 bottom end build. They order a short block from factory and build from that.
Better that factory 22re performance all the way....
Never personally used any of their products but I have watched several of their machining processes and that is precision build machining. You don't find that much anymore. Not around here anyways. I totally dig their product and the pride they put in their work.

This jarco place sounds good. can't beat a brand new toyota short block. Otherwise, while lots of companies are probably good... Doing it yourself has advantages. You can control the part selection and the whole build process. Plus it cuts costs. Like one guy said it takes about 3 motors to really get it right... This is true for most of us but by that time you have the whole truck totally figured out in every way and dialled in perfect just how you like it. Its kind of a philosophy.
