1991 PU Tailpipe Vibrates Against Body

At certain (low) RPMs the tailpipe (stock) rattles a bit against the rear quarter panel on the truck. I've looked beneath the truck, and all hangers seem to be present and secure. Was wondering if it's an easy thing -- and if so, how it's done -- to increase the angle of the bend to give a little more room between the pipe and the body. Or would a muffler shop be able to bend it without removing anything from the truck? Reasonable cost?

It's a minor annoyance, but want to figure something out before any body / paint damage.

Thanks very much for any info.
Andy

just get under there and using your favorite prybar and move the mount closest to where it is hitting in a way that it moves the tailpipe from wherever it is hitting. No need to pay someone else to do it for ya.

Thanks very much. I will play around. I didn't even consider that those mounts might be repositioned.

Like XXX said, just stick a prybar in the tail pipe.. Might be able to just bend it down and away from the body.
Might help once the truck has been run for a while and the tail pipe is hot.
Or, just take a sawzall and chop it off behind the body.

Thanks again, guys. I didn't get under there and shake things up enough, or I'd have noticed the pipe coming from the muffler was about to give. And it did yesterday. So I'm needing to replace the muffler. Will likely just go cheap with a cat-back setup and be done with it.

Again, thanks for your tips, and have a good week.

Tip: It's legal as long as there is a muffler and the exhaust exits behind the cab.

Not sure about Kansas, but here in PA it has to exit a body line.

Hopefully I'll be able to wrench the pipe off the catalytic converter... Have already ordered a cheapy from Advance Auto .. $114 shipped. So I have my next weekend figured out already. Till then, I'm the guy in the neighborhood who everyone knows is home.
