1989 pu - Clutch Master Cylinder Failure

Hello. I'm new to Yotatech. I need some help. I am constantly changing my Clutch Master Cylinder because the small cylinder shaped adjuster next to the rod where the rod adjusts in and out of keeps breaking. Is there a newer solution that doesn't come with the hollow piece and one that might be solid? Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks

Strange. I just got a new clutch master cylinder for my '87 (replacing it tomorrow), and it doesn't have that piece. Looks just like the photo on Amazon:

What model # is yours? Mine is Aisin CMT-003. Not sure if '89 is different than '87.

As Blueman said, very strange...I have not heard of this occurring before...
If so inclined, you might think about dropping in the 1'' bore master cylinder...it makes a difference in stopping power.

I've been wrong before, quite frequently, but I believe the OP was talking about the clutch MC, not the brake MC. Not much stopping power to the clutch

I've got 2 '87's, and neither of them has that cylindrical device at the end of the pushrod, where it connects to the pedal. Both of mine are as the one that Blueman posted.

The above picture is from the 86-89 FSM I have. I don't see the cylinder on the pushrod, where it connects to the pedal, you showed in your picture, Duane.
I suggest you go with the one Blueman posted instead.

Make sure you do the pedal and pushrod distances as the FSM specifies. Whatever version of the master cylinder you install.

Just my 2 cents, for whatever that's worth.

Thank you. I'll take a look at it. It's been frustrating having to change it often just because of that part failing when the clutch mc is still functional.

Thank you! That is what I'm looking for. Something solid on the end. The one on mine is a hollow device with a piece on the far end that collapses. That link on Amazon also shows that it fits my truck.

That's strange. Do you know which AISIN part # you were getting before? Maybe it's not the right one for your truck that you were getting before.

I just did the swap into my '87, and it took all of 30 minutes. Plus, so far it seems like the air bled out largely by repeated pedal pumping.

Most of the time, I live that way. Half asleep.
I used to (40 years ago or so, when I was in the Corps) drink up to 3 liters of coffee a night. I worked 11-7 at night. When I got out, I got another job, working 7 PM - 7 AM, week on, week off. I drank MORE coffee.
Now that I am forcibly retired for medical reasons, my doctor only lets me drink 1/3 of a liter a day. It's not easy to get used to, even after several years. My doctor is so mean to me...

So yeah, I spend a lot of time now half asleep. Don't feel bad
