1987 toyota pick gets hot going uphills

I have a 1987 toyota pickup that gets hot going uphills i have replaced the thermostat and the water pump is working please help.

Fan clutch. Rebuild or replace. I rebuilt mine.

No it does good on the highway stays just below half on the temp guage but as soon as we hit a hill she starts climbing

Maybe 20 it does it when we go up in the mountains

Assuming your radiator is in good condition and there isn't anything blocking air flow, I'd also suspect bad fan clutch. However, please verify like I did. Here's my write-up.

Just throwing it out there.... Considering the relatively low speed mentioned while going up hill and since the effectiveness of the fan is in question, do you have a fan shroud installed?

The shroud is essential to proper airflow.
