1986 4runner starter issues

I have an 86 runner 22re. I have been having starter issues for a while now. All dash lights turn on and battery shows 12 volts and is less than a year old. When I turn the key to start it just clicks as if the battery is dead. I replaced the starter (under warranty) and it was fine for two starts. This morning I got in the truck to go to work and it just clicked again. I got out checked all wires on the starter and it still did it. Tapped the starter and it fired up. This afternoon got in the truck, just clicked. Ended up having to pop the clutch. Any ideas would be appreciated.
P.S. I know there was apost on here close to the same problem but I couldn't find it today so dont harp on me to bad I tried searching before posting. Thanks

Just talked to a friend he said to check the relay at the back of the fuse box on passenger fender. Trying that tommorow and see what happens. What part of town are you on?

Update: pulled starter cheched internal contact. All seemed to have been replaced when it was remaned. surprising I know. Starter engaged properly when I bench tested it with a spare battery and jumper wire. Put it back in the truck and no luck. If I have my wife turn the key to start and I give it one light tap on it will fire right up so I don't believe its a bad relay. Any ideas I am getting really tired of replacing starters. Thanks

Well I believe I found my problem, it wasnt getting a very good connection at the battery, feel kinda dumb now, but with my luck that wont be the problem. And to answer your question im living at the parents right now on the far eastside (tanque verde valley) but will be moving out by star pass when school starts again.

Yep, connections will do it. Started to have so many connection issues on mine I ripped out original battery leads and replaced them. No worries now!

Fixed the problem it was the relay behind the fuse block on pass. fender. Dealership wanted $180. So I went cheap and did a push button with an in-line fuse. It's cheating but it works for now.
