1 Locker or 2 Limited Slips?

ARB air locker in the rear vs Truetrac both rear and front. Seems that either setup would cost about the same. Which one do you think is better?

arb in the rear and you could get the front locker later.

Spool the rear. Spartan the front, I've been hearing great things about the Spartan. Probably for both you are around $500!

What we really need to know is what you plan to do with the truck.
if this truck sees alot of highway and onroad/snow, with very little offroad, id say f/r lsd.. if it sees purely offroad, spool rear and arb front.
if it sees a mix, arb rear, get another one later for the front.

yup I vote for the ARB front/rear or LSD front/rear. If it were my DD and being in PA, I think I'd rather either of those two combos. Not sure If I would ever lock the ARB's in the snow though unless I was snow wheeling. Not sure how I would like both LSD's in the snow however, but they cannot be as bad as full time front/rear lockers.

I did supra LSD in the rear and detroit locker in the front. I also tightened the LSD, so it doesn't work very well in snow, but kicks ass off road without chirping the tires on road. did both axles with 529s for $800.

Just an FYI. A full time locker in the rear is a pain in the snow and ice. I have lockers front and rear (Lock-rite and Aussie) and I've been in places where all four tires just turn and do nothing for forward movement. Having said that you might want to look at what tires you are running for traction. Mine are terrible in the ice and only less terrible in the snow but then again they are getting kind of slick. I would advise against LS diffs since you have to learn how/when to apply the brake to make the lifted tire decide to lock and put traction to the other one.

Lots of variables there but I still think with a good set of skins and the rear locked you'll go farther. Better yet to be able to lock and unlock the rear. ARB in the back is still my vote.

just my oppinion, others may think different, but id go with 2 selectable lockers, get a rear arb now, then maybe get one up front later.

That only applies to gear type LSD differentials. Clutch type differentials (like the supra JZA70 type) are speed sensitive, meaning when one tire lifts off the ground you can get both tires to lock just by giving it gas. When one tire gets up to sufficient speed, the other tire immediately grabs and tries to pull you out.

Probably not the best option for low-speed rock crawling, however, as neither tire will ever get to sufficient speed.

I would go with the ARB locker in the rear. Like others have said you can add the front later, having limited slip really limits your abilities.

I have dual Truetracs and I like it for moderate trail riding and the occasional butt-clincher obstacle. Great manners in snow and slipperies and in high articulation situations a little stab to the brake pedal makes it find traction. A rear e-locker is in the works though since that is undoubtedly superior for more technical trails.

If it were me...ME lol I would do an ARB rear and do a LSD front. Ride around with that, trail it and what not and see if you need the locker in the front. I think having atleast ONE locker would be better that 2lsds. just my opinion.

What kind of wheeling do you do? How often? DD? Is Money an issue? I will give you my best opinion with these questions answered. ARB is TOO expensive IMO.
