Starting issue

Truck is an 84. When I turn the key I get nothing, not even a click. My battery, starter, and alternator are all brand new. All my fuses are good. I am stumped.

Any ideas? Thanks

Do any of the instrument lights light up? As in is turning the key actually making a connection to any of the wires that actually start the truck? Worth checking the ignition tumbler or whatever it's called right there on the steering wheel column.

Yes, all of my accessories work. I don't have a dash or any of the stock instruments, but my autometers lights up.

If I take the tumbler apart, what 2 wires do I need to look for? I'd like to wire up a push button starter.

I just replaced that, but it's worth double checking.

How do I bypass the ignition and start it right off the starter?

Figured it out tonight. I haven't had this truck for long enough to be able to spot the little non obvious things.

There is a small single wire that plugs into the starter, separate from the 12v post. The piece that, that wire plugs into fell completely out of the starter, wire still attached. Pulled the starter and there are a few little burn marks right next to where this piece fell out.
You live you learn, every little lesson learned will help me out when I am out in the dirt.

Now on to the cool !

I am having a similar issue but everything looks to be hooked up. Do you have any pictures of the engine compartment (mainly where the wiring hooks up to things?). I have an 86 cab on my 85 so I am getting frustrated trying to track down the right wires. The truck ran before I removed a body lift so I would assume loose connection. I have looked all over and haven't seen any loose wires except for the fuel pump + wire. If I touch that to the + on the Batt it pumps, still don't know exactly where to plug that in. But biggest issue is the starting. I turn the key, get lights on the panel, hear a click (relay?) but no starter engagement.????? I am stumped

Found out I had debris in the starter. Hit it with a LFH and it started right up.
