rear seat replacement 4runner, junkyard trip

I'm heading to the junkyard tomorrow to look for some items. While I'm there i'd like to find some new rear seats for the 84 4runner. Anyone know of a good donor truck besides our 4runners? I thought I had seen somewhere there was a newer 4runner or truck that had seats that would work well or be a close fit for the back. I can't find that thread now.

Also, any recommendations for the front seats too? I've heard pretty much anything will work, but wasn't sure if anyone had experience with a particular seat that they like or worked well.

2ng gen rear seats MIGHT fit if you can squeeze them in there. The rear seats arent one piece, if you havent noticed. putting a rear seat from another vehicle wouldnt work very well.

Yes, I understand that. I could almost swear up and down there's been a suggested seat that fits.

I had planned on buckets in the back. So I measured the where they were going to go then searched for seats that were the deminsions I needed. Then just needed to fab a a bracket to hold them. Had baby number 3 so two buckets are no longer practical.

yeah, I'd like a bench also. What about something out of a jeep. Don't they have a small rear back seat?

i guess it is the two part back seat though. Not sure how a standard one would work.

Here's my writeup on putting 2nd generation 4runner seats into a 1st generation. Its actually quite easy, but you will need your old back seat and a donor set of 2nd gen seats. If you want to do front seats, grab the fronts out of the 2nd gen at the same time. You will lose the extra seat handle and you will have to manually slide the seat forward for passenger entry.

With all of the cash for clunker cars, you should have no problem finding seats right now.

Why bother, It's your truck, right? When are you sitting back there?
