I dont think you can be driving while it's on choke.. when you touch the throttle the choke should disengage

about 1100rpms... It seems like the truck is loosing vaccum or somthing. I can keep the truck running and it seems to runn better but it wont idle at that point. Then I rev it to about 4000rpms and it does fine..?

Yes. I will rev it up around 4000 rpms and it seems to do fine after words.. There are times as well that i turn it off and start it up like 5 min later and it wont idle.. I have no idea whats causing it. I was thinkin accelerator pump or egr valve but i dont know..

I was having a similer problem with my 84 22r. It would be fine while cold then say after turning off and starting again it would run really bad and die like it was running on 3cyl. Turns out I had a bad cap, maybe cracked, would get water in there I think just condensation but changed that and no problem now. Also had riched up the mixture because of emissions problems.
These are just some suggestions, I think sometimes we immediatly think "carb problem" but often it's an ignition problem.
Good luck!

By the way you have the same tire combo I had for years and wheeled the p!$$ out of it just the way it was. I wish I still had those tires!

I was having this issue on my 82 recently, it got progressively worse the more often I would drive. If the truck sat for a few days it would run great but after driving for 4 days it was doing just as you described. I rebuilt my carb and put a new intake manifold gasket on and it has driven 60 trouble free miles today... tomorrow or the next day i'll find out if it's really fixed. I also threw some new plugs into her and put on all new vacuum lines.

When was the last time you did a carb rebuild? If it's been 20K miles or more i'd look into it.

I'll post in a few days and tell ya if it fixed the problem.
