We took the ol 4runner to an 80s themed car show yesterday at Lymans Orchards. I haven't see so many old toyotas in one place, other than my driveway in a long time.

also it won a trophy, maybe it's because the 4runner was the only show vehicle helping out in a vehicle recovery.

From wheeling in the woods last week on some tight trails and lots of mud to a week night trip to Vermont then Mohawk Trail yesterday.

we spotted this deer just after seeing 3 wild turkeys during our cruise back south through gorgeous countryside in Gilford VT.

no trip to Mohawk Trail is complete without going to the hairpin turn.

Heh!
You want hairpin turns, plural, go to Woodside, in the California Bay Area. Take La Honda Road up the mountains and over to San Gregorio Beach. All the way is almost nothing but hairpin turns the whole way. At the peak of the mountains, where the PCH runs along the spine of the mountains, in the town of La Honda, is the restaurant they used for album cover for Alice's Restaurant.
Another one that's very similar is Kings Mountain Road, again, up and over the mountains.

Woodside is a beautiful town, filled with mansions, and a ton of history from the days when it was the center of the redwood logging. Sadly, nearly all the trees that were in Woodside are gone, now. The rich came in and cut them down for their mansions. It's a huge loss of some incredibly beautifull trees, that were still there when I was growing up there.

Have fun!

funny you mentioned Alice's restaurant because part of the area we went through after Mohawk Trail is very near where the story took place! A VW friend of mine lives up that way and he does a garage trail walk in June complete with Arlo Guthrie himself.

Them roads sound great out your way. We love stuff like that and if you didn't know already we're also big fans of unimproved roads. Im sure driving those daily and living on them may not be as fun but I'd like to try....

The 4runner is no longer the oldest Toyota here now.

1979 Corrolla Deluxe
My son spotted this one on our way to a cruise night. It's now his first car.

My best friend had the same body style, a 1976 Corolla for many years. It was blue. It went through some things. Are you doing a build thread somewhere?

only the 4runner gets a build thread no love to the Comando and the Rolla lol.

Actually though we really didn't do a whole lot to get his car going. It had this "guy who welds " type of header system so I planted it in the garden and put the original manifold with stock down pipe back on.it was in the trunk when we got it. We changed all fluids which all looked new. It was last on the road just a couple years ago. We fixed a few minor electrical things. The wiring is very similar to the 4runner. I was able make the reverse lights work with the different wiring. It has a 82 engine and transmission. The biggest challenge was someone took the speedometer drive gear out and plugged the hole with a vintage radio knob. I found a new drive but it wasn't exactly the same but works. It was slightly smaller so i wrapped it with electrical tape to seal it. Then hooked up a speedometer cable i got for the 4runner to see if it works and it did. And a quick rattle can paint job.

There’s two kinds of people in this world. Those with welders, and those without.😁

That Rolla’s got some attitude with the white letters!

Out and about in the 4runner and look what we spotted in the wild!

I think something different is under the hood SR50? And a tiny ford decal in the toyota badge. Hmmmmmm

and the one other Commando that I know about in our area about one town over.

Timing is everything! Great shot. I love what you did with them stripes. I know somebody makes the Decals but I bet your way was a better price. Now i'm considering that idea.
