Polished Knuckles?
#2
I sanded out the rough spots on mine and got them pretty smooth. Seemed to help the knuckle seals/wipers stay leak free while I ran that axle. Probably can't hurt anything.

It was about 8 years ago I did mine, so no specific details that I recall. I think I used 2 or 3 of the sand paper discs in my angle grinder, maybe 60-100-120 or whatever they had then used a palm sander with finer grit emory cloth in it to smooth it off. If there are deep pits/grooves, some folks fill with JB Weld or similar and smooth that off rather than trying to sand all the way down.

By polishing the knuckles, you mean the balls on the end of the axle housing, right? Because that's what Roger is talking about.

yea at first i thought he was talkin about building a mall crawler.... i used my palm sander and then i hit it with emery paper.... the epoxy method made me a little nervous but i bet it would work ok i guess.
ive heard of people using epoxy primer and clear coat also...

Sounds like a good idea.Id think you wouldnt want to take too much off cause it wouldnt seal right. I think i may do mine when i get the old front axel off. I have done cosmetic polishing so i will be doing it that way. Any good places to get a frontend rebuild kit?
