My 84 22re EFI is getting fuel but no spark. Will turn over but no fire. Replaced coil, checked battery connection, please help.

 

are you getting power to the coil?

 

I checked. I am getting + power to both poles..Is that okay? I thought one is supposed to be negative

 

The negative post is getting 11.56 DCV and the positive is getting 0.2 DCV..?

 

does your 84 have clutch start saftey switch?

 

I imagine it came with one but it has not been functional since I have owned the truck.

 

why would this matter?

 

If you have power to the coil you might have got a bad one from the parts store

 

Start tracing where the power stops. But at this point I'd put my money on the distributor. It tells the ignitor to send spark to the cap.

 

Unfortunately when I went through this is was my ignitor. They are expensive. I replaced all the cheap(er) stuff first- coil, distributer...but it was my ignitor. There are diagnostics to isolate what exactly it is, but I don't have that equipment, so I just started replacing stuff...

If it's your ignitor, they unfortunately run about $340, if I remember correctly...

 

Yes but you can get a used ignitor from $5-$50 depending where you look. I still say distributor.
