New rebuild Bad compression
I have a 1985 toyota with a 22re rebuilt engine. The block was shaved 9 thou and using a thicker head gasket. Rebuild kit from parts dinosaur. The rings where not in tolerance and where shaved down with a dremel.
For the head rebuilt at the shop but had shavings around the valves and they said that I didnt need new valve stems dunno why but hey.
Has been burning spark plugs out like crazy 1 is always fine, 4 is always bad, and 2 and 3 are ok with bosh platinum plus. With use of E3 they foul out right off the batt with the same as above. I am burning through oil continuously. With compression at 1* 90, 2* 60, 3* 60, 4* 60."The engine didnt turn over at a fast rate. A little slow from experience with other engines. I am going to do a trickle charge tonight and recheck.
The engine maybe has 300 miles on it, 180 of which I had a emergency that involved a friend recently divorced and to much drinking that I needed to drive out to. 90 miles up and down hills at 55-70 mph at about 50% constant rpm.
For the engine break in I used a new method a friend recommended to me, where you beat the piss out of it, high torq low rpm for 20 min. Which seemed to have worked. But now I am having these problems. I did change to oil at 20 miles.
I also used a larger TB from a 5mge that had a small leak that I didn't diagnose till about 150 miles, along with forgetting to use a breather on the valve cover, What I mean is that I had the front vacuum line hooked up to the intake manifold to a blocked port. Fixing that Seemed to have helped the fouling out, But I tried E3 again and fouled out so maybe not.
If you guys have any tips, recommendations, vudu spells I could use It would be great. Also in advance thank you for reading this

Sounds like you have quite a few problems. Were the bores checked or honed? What do you mean by "shavings around the valves"? If your valves aren't sealing, you won't have compression. Did you triple check your valve timing? I know for a fact that a 22re will run being 2 teeth off on the camshaft, but obviously not make any power and have low compression.
Fuel wise, are you running anything else in the system to compensate for the bigger TB? You can't just go throwing on random bigger parts without completely compensating for them. Put the stock stuff back on and see if that helps the fouling problem.

sounds like a bad egg! haha. if i had those problems, personally i would use that engine for parts and buy a long block. fast and easy! but i guess it depends on how much has already been spent on the overhaul... good luck!

The head and block where supposedly checked, and when they shaved the head they missed some of the shavings around the valves right around where the aluminum dips in for the valves.
The intake was milled to fit the new TB and the ECU should be able to compensate for the larger TB. As long as your H/P does not go past 150 your ECU should be able to compensate is what Iv read.
I also rechecked the compression and its now at 100/90/90/100
