hey guys, ive got a 22r with a weber 32/36.. with the flooding here in florida, i was trying to help a neighbor try to pull his car out of the water in his yard.. the culvert my truck was sitting on collapse in the middle of the road and my truck went under, the truck was running and was ok, then it died and before i could say no, the guy ran over and tried starting the truck underwater.. i had a buddy drag me out and i immediately pulled out the plugs and spun the crank for about 5 minutes until water stopped spitting out and i put em back in, truck fired right up and i drove 26 miles to the house without a problem, i got home, drained the motor oil, and gear oil from the tranny and both axles... i didnt consider the fact that my gas tank was under also, so i drained it after a week of the truck sputtering, stalling and hesitating horribly... now ive got all new gas and its still running horrible, where should i start?

 

should i do another oil change? could my carb float be stuck? im pretty mechanically inclined and able to diagnose things, but ive never had a truck under water before, and cant think for the life of me where the best place to start would be

 

fuel filter?

 

i changed it too, that was my first thought cuz when id put some pressure on it around 3rd gear it would start sputtering and jumping, when i let off a bit it evened out then after it does that for a while it will just shut off like its flooded and wont start for an hour or so

 

Any moisture in ignition system? Cap, rotor, wires, plugs, coil? Wires may be arcing if it's sputtering under load.

 

i actually havent checked that, ill check it tomorrow, that would make sense it they are. thanks for the tip, ill keep ya updated

 

Check for moisture under the wire boots also. Where the wires connect to the plugs and coil and distributor cap. Maybe hit them with a bit of WD40 and/or brake cleaner to dry it out a bit. See if there is any evidence of arcing or breaking down also. Good luck!

 

Ok will do, thanks again! I know for sure the boots are dry, ive checked them for whatever reason. the plugs however seem pretty funky, they look torched, i know my truck was running rich and because of that itd get hot every so often which is my theory for the torched plugs, but could the water in the system have something to do with that instead? cuz im not sure of their condition prior to the sinkage
