Help!!!

ok i got an 84 runner about a month ago and it was in horrible shape but i've got it running now and i have a temperary radiator in it but now i have some questions about a few things... ok first its been hit on the front left side. when i first got it running i took it for a test drive and it pulled to the left bad i found out my torque rod had snaped and fixed it but it still pulls to the left but not near as bad my front left shackle is laying on the frame could this be an issue? also when i come to a stop there is vibration coming from under my feet it sounds like exuast but i have no clue what to do about it. i was also wanting to lift it to get some 33s on it and i was thinking about just blocking the suspension for now.... anyone feel like helpin out. im so happy to own it its a struggle not to wheel it instead of work on it...lol

first off what is this rod your talking about??? if it's an 84 it has a solid axle.
if the shackle is on the frame that is bad.
don't put blocks on the front!!!!!! I'm not even sure they would fit....
if it is still pulling there could be a issue with the frame being bent. some pic would help allot.

Yeah, the shacke on the frame sounds bad. Have it looked at by a mechanic.

Sounds like the spring shackle is too short for th installed springs. See how I solved that identical problem on my '85 below:

if it;s been hit, or the hit-ee, then there could be many drastic problems, check the springs for de-arching, or warping, check all stering arms, and linkage... frame would be my last spot to check, just cuz if it's the frame ur effed...
as far as the vibration under ur feet, what size/type tires are you running? I have a 84 Runner with 31x10.5 BFG Mud Terrains, they make a lot of noise, and vibrate just under 10 mph's,...

the shackle on the frame sounds like the front crossmember could have been bent when it was damaged.

Spring hanger is what the front spring eye is bolted to to attach it to the frame. The spring shackle connects the rear spring eye to the frame and swings back and forth as the spring compresses and extends.

Could be something broken, making a metal-on-metal grinding noise. See if you can have someone drive and stop the truck close to you and see if you can isolate where the noise is coming from.

I can't remember the name of that....I took mine off....I would buy some lift springs or put some rears up front and chevys in the rear. it's a cheap and flexy lift.

rears up front

chevy in the rear

Only way to eliminate the torque rod, at least for a street driven rig, is to put on crossover steering. If you keep the stock push-pull steering, the torque rod is rather important, at least on the road.
