EGR Replacement Questions, 84 22RE

Well, after 277,000 the EGR has definitely had it on my ’84 22RE. I haven’t dove-in under the hood yet but the parts dept. at Toyota said they no longer carry an EGR for my ’84. The gentleman also told me that unlike the ’85 and newer 22res, that mine doesn’t poke through the head, it simply bolts to the back.
Is the ’84 22RE EGR a standalone piece unlike the 85-89? Also, where’s a good place to get one online, they’re damn expensive but since I live in the “green-state” of CA I must run one.

Thanks all

Might take a picture of your valve and then folks can see if it is the same or different.

Or try cleaning the valve, I used a pistol cleaning kit on mine, the gun solvent did a good job on the built up carbon and the small round brushes worked into the passages pretty good.

Yeah I just ran out to do that, the pictures look horrible without light so I'll snap them in the morning. Though, I was able to get a part number: 25620-35070 which seems different from the 25620-35100 that I found online; it said it was good for an 84-85 22re, then in fine print it said it was good for 85-89, hmmm and it said it was a direct replacement for the 35100. I suppose I'll find a direct replacement for my 35070.

Thanks!

EDIT:

According to a little research, it seems the 35100 is for non-CA engines and the 35070 is for CA trucks, I wonder what the difference is...

No, I have an egr valve off an 84 efi celica and wanna use it on my 85 runner. The valves look the same just don't know if something else internal is different. My 85 egr valve # 25620-35100 and my 84 celica # 25620-35070. I will try it this weekend when im off and let everyone know unless someone already knows something. I don't see what would be the problem it looks identical to my 85.
