So I am on a many quests with my rig..

and one of them is to bring down the in cab noise while driving..

On my treck to drop off the kid and to work.. I have been measuring 87db, with my phone. It may not be accurate but I hope its its precise.

Most of the Stock intake system with a battery swap


I also have a gap in on the passenger side door by the B-pillar side.


Any thoughts..or recomendations..

I am thinking of lining the inside of the Hood
Also kinda want to put in Hood louvers to keep the fan from coming on as often.

 

I used Dynamat, and its generic equivalent, on the inside of my doors, roof, floorboard, and back wall of the cab on my pick up and it made a huge difference. You can find good deals on the generic brand on ebay.

Can you see light through the gap in the door? Sounds like it needs new weather striping.

 

I installed UltaTouch radiant barrier by Bondedlogic sold at HomeDepot.
Very happy with my results in my DD 10k miles later.

I have used some stuff similar to what you mention but found the Dynamat to be far superior. The thick rubber/tar material also keeps the metal from vibrating which makes more noise than you think. I also noticed after covering my doors that they sound extremely solid when I shut them compared to before treatment. A friend that owns an audio shop turned me on to the material. He uses it in all his competition cars.

Doing the rear panels with Peel and Seal I can talk to the kids without yelling for them to hear. I also do the doors and floor board. On the door gap, is the hinges sitting level on the door frame? I know you flopped it over. A little bulge will cause the door not to sit tight. It doesnt take much. I would compare each side and look for any metal stress or paint flaking.

I just use Ear Plugs it was the easy option .Most often when I need to drive something not quite finished.

Works great when traveling more then 10 miles with wives and girl friends or boy friends depending which you prefer.

I just turn up my 8 Track player and listen to Dean Martin

 

So I take it you don't like that PING sound?

This doesn't make the stock door panels bulge out or anything?

No problems with the clips?

 

I never had a PING sound. My door however did have a hollow echo type sound whenever I shut it.
And I put the dynamat on the inside of the door skin not the part the door panel attaches to.

Obviously I've never had a vehicle with any treatment like that.

 

Door seals added, no change in noise level.

I think most of the noise is coming from the engine, I am going to look for something to seal up small holes in the firewall
