Bumper help......

I picked up a Smitty Built tube rear bumper, described as for a 80-85 p/u and 4runner, and I have an '85 4Runner, but when I went to mount it up, I dont have any sort of mounting brackets. I bought my truck without any rear bumper, so I dont know what I may be missing. Does anyone have any pics of their stock mounting brackets from the underside where they mount to the frame and bumper?

Thanks!!

the smitty built bumpers are made to slide into the frame rails then be bolted to the frame using the stock holes that are already there.

I may need to look again, but I don't have any holes. Just a rubber splash guard with a couple of slits in it. Here are some pics..... I am assuming there is some sort of bracket that connects the frame rail to the bumper bracket?

You just slide the bumper bracket into the frame rails. Lift up the rubber thing, and put it in.

now just wait for the lewd comments to pour in!

There are holes in the sides of the frame rails:

Looks like you are missing part of the brackets for sure. Unless you have a 3" body lift, there is no way a straight-in bumper bracket will work. You can see what I had to do to make brackets for my old rear bumper:

yeah, I dont even have those bolts. I need to find the brackets. I am guessing that would be a good junk yard find. Anyone have a stock rear bumper and similar pics of the underside bracket?

Thanks all for your help!

Ahh. my mistake. I assumed the object in the upper left of the third picture that bskey posted was the bracket. So, no brackets....hmmm. See if you can get some used, or order new ones from smiity built.

Just curious, did you buy that bumper used? I tried finding accessory Smittybilt parts for my front tube bumper. Come to find out. The company went nips up!

Yeah, I bought it locally for $40, so not a huge loss if I cant mount it, but they said it mounted to the stock brackets.
