I'm not sure about the 22re but I have been running Castrol GTX High Mileage in my '02 for the last couple of years, and I don't think I will try anything else. Once I decided to give Penzoil a try and there was a noticeable drop in gas mileage and performance. Also, NEVER use Fram!! They are one of the most well known filters but they are poor quality! I use Purolator Pure One filters because they are consistently rated the highest quality filter.

+200k on my vehicles and never had a problem with generic ASE certified dino oil and wix filters every 3k or 3mo. Have heard great things about Rotella oil tho. I've heard if your using synthetic oil in motors with 30k+ after using dino the whole time, your might as well stuff cash in your crankcase. I change oil for my friends sometimes and I've slapped them for bringing me a fram.

Royal Purple and a K&N oil filter. Been running that since I drained the break-in oil, nothing to complain about!

wow, what motor?!? Thats certainly impressive! The DD P/U has Royal Purple in everything, the 4runner has amsoil all around. Just loyal to good synthetics!

I don't care about brand of oil, I go by API standards of the oil, then viscosity, then price. As long as it's SM (or in my old pushrod motor, SL ONLY...I never use SM in any tappet motor) or mybe SL. I generaly use 5-30, or 10-30 WT after Labor Day, then switch to 10-40, or 20-50 Wt on May 1st. I choose either WT by price.

I use Wix or NAPA filters.

See thats what counts. Its what makes an individual happy. Oil, shmoil, change it every 3000 miles n everything is good. PS If you don't use Valvoline syntec, 5/30 your nuts.

Toyota uses Mobile 1 conventional in 5/30 and 10/30. I figure they have to know something, so that is what I go with. And a toyo filter is $8.00 not that much more than some others. It also retains oil to eliminate dry starts.

There used to be an oil called 'Lubriplate' and was the bee's knees, too bad they don't make it anymore.

There actually is a lubricating property in Pennsylvania oils (except Q-state) that is superior to any Texas oils because of some element found in their respective regions. (I'm from PA also....haha) I need to do some searching and find out some specifics on this but I used penzoil since high school before I discovered penn racing oil and although all oil works, I always like to use the best I can get for my money. hmmm....

I think a lot of it is just preference without any known facts (me included)
