Belt issue

I am having trouble getting my power steering belt to line up. From the upper pulley that is adjustable, down to the crankshaft pulley, the belt it as at a noticeable angle. I recently replaced my power steering pump, and this issue came up. The new pump is the correct one, I even tried the pulley off the old pump. I've also tried every thing I could possibly think of to adjust the top pulley. I tried a 2nd belt and it was a little better, but it was not a new belt. I pitched the belt off 3 or 4 times this weekend out in the desert.

Thanks

Might be the crank pulley. is the top pulley too forward of the crank or set back towards the motor behind it?

The top pulley is too far forward. Weird thing is, is that everything worked perfectly before I messed with it. (minus a leaking PS pump)

PS pump should have nothing to do with it starting. I have determined that I need a 3 groove crank pulley. Some how it worked on a 2 groove up until now.

IIRC the outer groove on the 3 groove pulley is for A/C...isnt' there a spacer/washer thingy on the ps pump pulley? Someone else had this problem and I think that was the issue...

From what I have gathered the 3rd groove pulley bolts on, and is for the power steering.

nope you're right, had to go look at mine, that bolt on one runs the fan/ps pump with the center turning the a/c. Is there a spacer installed on the new pump?

There is not really any way you can put a spacer on the PS pump. It bolts on with 4 bolts and the pulley shaft has a tooth that the pulley has to slide in on. 3rd (bolt on) pulley is going on saturday, problem solved, time to race!
